Gingerbread houses
Our annual gingerbread house-making event came and went without incident. If this were a competition, Carson and Lexi would have tied for the heaviest and most candy used (and eaten!!)
. Lori won 1st prize for the best looking house, and Mark won 1st for the most houses made in the time alloted. Nathan and Caden were there to support.

Scotts graduation celebration
Some happy doctors. Can't pick out Scott, but we are pretty sure he is one of the happy ones. He is about 4 rows back from the stage, on the right side, and in about 4 seats from the right side. Still can't pick him out, neither can I, but he was there. Check out this celebration movie.
Scotts Graduation
Hopefully this link will work, still figuring this out. See his graduation video. See previous post for test.
Scott's graduation
Scott recieves his diploma from Palmer. Here is a short video of his walking accross the stage. Mark was there to present him as an alumni. Click on this link graduation

Scott's Graduation

Some pictures of Scott at the graduation hall in Davenport IA. He graduated Magna Cum laude, as was inducted into a honor society for top chiropractic graduates. We will post a movie of him walking accross the stage receiving his diploma in a couple of days. Mark was there as a Palmer Almuni to assist with the presentation.

random videos and pictures
We liked this because Melanie's hair is all messed up from Garth giving her kisses. Brittany also likes this shirt.
And a couple videos:
First, Melanie had fun at the park and wasn't scared of climbing this height that is the equivalent of an 10 story fall for an adult (or around there somewhere). This is the only time she didn't go straight down the slide.
Also, Melanie loves running in circles. She just discovered that she could make little screaming noises (don't ask me how that was something new to her, because I'm pretty sure I've heard those noises before). She thought it was hilarious. We probably shouldn't encourage any game that makes noise, but it was pretty funny. She just doesn't laugh the same when I tell her to sit quietly in a corner and let me play on the internet.

House in Kanab III
House in Kanab II
House in Kanab
We traveled to Tropic to visit Kathy's folks, and then to Kanab to look at houses this weekend. Here are a few shots of the one we really like. These are of the outside, first is front view of house, other two are backyard, notice the swings and slide (whee), and the other is view from dining room window.
What we've been up to...
Hi Chamberlain family! Just wanted to drop a quick note and let you all know what we've been up to...
Kevin is entering the 2nd week of his "medicine" (the medical reference for Internal Medicine) rotation at Maricopa Medical Center, which, according to him, is in the ghetto. So far, he's treated lots of interesting patients, including a prison inmate with pica--the weird disease where you want to eat everything. The guy's kind of a regular at MMC--he's eaten concrete, screws, whatever he can get his hands on. Kev's also getting to know the serious ins-and-outs of alcoholic withdrawal. One of his patients was having serious hallucinations. That's enough to make you commit to the W of W forever! He's been leaving even before I wake up at 5:00 for work! The hours are pretty serious, but he's learning a lot and loving the "free food" at the hospital cafeteria; he's never eaten better. :) This is his fourth rotation this year so far; it's crazy to think how fast this year is flying by.
I'm finishing up the first nine weeks of school starting tomorrow. My students this year are great! My juniors are just finishing up the novel Speak, and my freshmen are doing literary analysis. I'm sure you also know that I'm working on my thesis, which is on Writing Center Work, and I hope to finish my MA in December. I will submit the rough draft of my thesis to my committee chair hopefully by Friday, which should get me moving on the defense process. Exciting! Anyway, with school, work, and part-time stuff, I'm just as busy as Kevin; we hardly ever see each other. Hopefully that will change soon.
We miss you all! Hope we see you soon...
Love,
Kevin & Kalie

Camping
So we went camping in this place called Oak Grove in the Dixie National Forest on Friday night. It is about 25 miles from here, but the last 8 are all dirt roads (so I drove about 3 miles an hour for a 3 hour trip). It was really cool, and Melanie had a blast. Here are some pictures. She loved putting rocks and dirt into the bucket..

And then promptly spilling both all over herself...

Yep, that'll make your hands dirty. And shoes. And clothes. And hair. Seriously, look at her shoes, they were pink at one time.

Sitting by the fire eating breakfast with momma...

Also, here are a couple videos.
First, Melanie (I guess Brittany) got a child carrier. She loved spinning in circles.
Also, here is a video of Melanie climbing while camping. Just so we know she has some Chamberlain genes in her.

Visit to St George
We visited St George to see the kids and attend Tuachan theater. We were able to attend Carson's Birthday party, (first time for his birthdays), watch a soccor game, and play with the kids. First picture is Carsons soccor game, his is closest to camera. then Grandma with the girls and Nathan. Nest is Kathy with the grandkids on the couch. Last is everyone in superhero masks we made during Carson's B-day party.

Ready...go
So, Melanie was playing this game with Brittany where she would stand on Brittany's hands. She would say, "Ready.....go" when she wanted to start. It was pretty funny, so I tried to get a video of it.
Here is the first attempt. You can hear her asking what dadn is doing with the camera before hand. Once I had filmed it, I uploaded it to the computer to make sure that it worked, and realized that I had the camera tipped as if I were taking a picture. I said, "dangit" and Melanie instantly starting saying it back. I don't know how you people can't laugh when kid say something like this.
Anyway, here is the second attempt at filming her saying, "ready...go."
Judge all you want about the language around a kid, I think it is funny.

Grandma's birthday
We stayed at Kodachrome Basin State Park by Grandma's and all decided that it would be the perfect place for a reunion next year. It is beautiful. In the second picture Landon and Melanie were copying each other and it was just so darn cute. The group picture turned out pretty good minus all the stuff on the picnic table. Grandma and Grandpa said that they had a really good time and it sure was good to see everyone.
